The Guild held its fall retreat October 16-18 and great fun was had by all 51 attendees. It was a beautiful fall weekend, full of much chatter, laughter and sewing. We had a "Block Party", where we asked participants to donate a 14-inch 9-patch block in fall colours, and then to donate 20 minutes to help put them together into charity quilts using the Disappearing Nine- Patch pattern. We managed to make six quilts that will be given to our Guild charity, Basically Babies, and we also gave away three sets of blocks as "lotto blocks". We also played "Block Party Bingo" throughout the weekend. The cost of a bingo card was a fat quarter, and as per regular bingo, you had to form various patterns, such as a straight line, 4 corners, letter X, etc., in order to win a selection of fat quarters. The grand prize was a collection of 83 fat quarters and was won by Anne Rainey. |
